I have known Gary for many years and witnessed his dedication and passion for body mechanics and fitness. His knowledge of the human body’s intricacies has led him to develop a transformative fitness regime.

One of the standout features of Gary’s program is his High-Intensity Training (HIT) approach, which has allowed me to reap significant benefits from a relatively small time investment. His expertise in workout efficiency has helped me despite an otherwise busy schedule.

Beyond his knowledge, Gary fosters a professional yet relaxed atmosphere that cultivates a sense of encouragement and support. He understands that fitness journeys can be challenging, and his approachable demeanour puts one at ease.

After just 12 brief sessions, I am seeing improvements in my lean muscle mass and flexibility, alongside fat loss, and enhanced well-being. In addition, I have learned safe and effective exercise principles that can even be applied at home.

I started training with Gary as a somewhat reluctant student, but my intrigue in the MedX machines and what they could offer me propelled me into his gym.

Even with my own history of Pilates teaching and yoga practice, I, like most, had many imbalances, aches, and pains. My whole system feels much more organised and efficient, and I have slowly developed mental and physical robustness.

A good teacher inspires students to do better, push their limits, and return for more. Gary’s teaching style perfectly balances technical information, support, and silence. Gary has helped me to explore my abilities and push myself further without pressure or judgement.

Being both an Osteopath since 1995 and a Chartered Physiotherapist, I am interested in correct functional alignment and stability, together with strength and flexibility across the whole body, to enable it to function well.

Gary’s MedX gym, combined with his personalised, attentive, and skilled approach, helps focus on strengthening the correct muscles in the proper order within a controlled arc of movement. This minimises the possibility of injury so that one can progressively help oneself.

He is passionate about his work. Gary’s training protocols have gradually increased muscular strength to safely occur across my body.

I’ve endeavoured to stay fit and healthy my whole adult life, being a keen runner, cyclist, and gym-goer, yet it’s remarkable the difference a few sessions at Eight Five Gym have made.

Isolating muscle groups and working them to the point of failure has helped identify gaps in my training. I feel stronger and my back feels less vulnerable these days, presumably due to now developing a more a balanced whole-body muscle structure.

Gary is patient and knowledgeable. I’ve learned a great deal and have adopted much of Gary’s approach into my own workouts. Oh, and the MedX equipment is fantastic, a real pleasure to use.

Gary’s time and care in the initial set-up, including establishing the appropriate load and range of motion explaining body position and muscle activation, provided a comforting sense of expertise and interest in my personal well-being. There was nothing ‘standard’ about it.

He maintained a delicate balance between humour and challenge as he guided the sessions with well-chosen phrases and impeccable timing. He instinctively knew when to push harder and when to provide valuable guidance, making each session both intense and rewarding.

Despite taking some muscles to their limits, I was pleasantly surprised that I was not sore after the sessions. As Gary shared at an opportune moment, ‘lactic acid is temporary’. I highly recommend Gary and the MedX machines as a safe and very effective combination to support well-being on many levels.
